Artist Statement
As a graphic designer I aim to change the way people view the world via graphic arts such as advertisements, logos, and text. Without these communication arts, society would not function; therefore I want to enhance the human race’s visual experience by constantly updating and modifying those aspects of design. I love the fact that I can create images and graphics that people can recognize and relate to based on their personal education and life experiences. My favorite part about design is when you create something – a logo for example – and someone who sees it says, “Oh, that’s so simple even I could have come up with that!” because you know that a) no they probably couldn’t have, and b) your design was so easily recognizable that, in their eyes, the result was so obvious it couldn’t have been done any other way. That’s good design.
The majority of my work consists of advertisement spreads, promotional posters, personalized logos, package design, and text-based projects such as magazine articles and annual reports. I try to maintain a certain diversity in my portfolio and retain my skills with the various design programs by creating a wide range of projects. This also helps challenge me to learn new design techniques and push the boundaries of my design skills to new limits. I believe that creating graphic designs is a continuous learning process and I’m always game for learning something new.
